Policies and procedures relevant to people assigned to be Coke Controllers at the UCC are contained here.
UCC Coke Controller Policy
Coke controllers should:
- Debit, credit or dispense from an account only with the explicit permission of its owner.
- Credit a given account after witnessing the appropriate amount of cash being placed into the UCC cash box.
- Confirm and deal with any machine malfunctions promptly and refund accounts as appropriate. (i.e. email coke-control or wheel, mark slots dead, or turn the machine off, etc)
- Endeavour to maintain positive account balances.
- Be polite and helpful to people in the UCC, and encourage others to do the same.
Please feel free to bring any grievances about controllers or users to the UCC Committee, which will investigate them and respond as applicable.
Admission to Coke Group
Members may apply to become coke members in line with the UCC Group Admission guidelines. In general, an interested member should first familiarise themselves with the Coke system. An easy way to do this is by completing the Coke aptitude test (below). The committee may require that candidates for Coke group complete this test before they are admitted to the group.
Largely On-Line Coke Aptitude Test ("LOLCAT")
To complete this test, you will need a terminal on a machine that has the dispense command available. You may also wish to familiarise yourself with the dispense(1) manual page, which explains the various uses of the dispense command.
