Stay Off If Up Hack

This is a tiny hack which stops your Palm V turning on if the hardware "up" is pressed at the time. The effective logic goes something along the lines of: when the PalmPilot wakes up, if the hardware up button is down, and an alarm is not being sounded, then go back to sleep again.

To install Stay Off If Up Hack, hotsync it onto your Palm V first. Then open Hackmaster, and tick the box next to "Stay Off If Up Hack". The question mark on this screen will give you more information about my hack.

Alarms will still work even if the up button is pressed.

I coded this hack together after I noticed that the Palm V would always accidentally turn on after being in my pocket or the slim leather case. What happens is that one of the hardware buttons is pressed and the Palm V turns on. But since the up button protrudes the most, it will be pressed down in all these cases. This hack effectively stops the Palm V turning on at all if the up button is held down. Unlike other hacks, it still allows the use of the hardware buttons as per normal.

Stay Off If Up Hack is available from the Palm Gear website. Source is included if you want to poke around.
