Authorization & safety for SCA combat

With the various types of combat being performed in the SCA there are many rules and skills that a person, wanting to participate in them, must learn and develop.

Here you can find out the requirements for authorization in each of the combat styles used by the SCA, just click on the relevant section below to go to that section.

The first and most important aspect of combat is the safety of all participants and the spectators that watch these events.

The SCA has a set of rules which all combatants, no matter what they are authorizing for, must know. The rules are listed here for those who want to learn them.

Plus, when you attend any SCA event as a member or non-member, you are required to sign an indemnity form which says that you are responsible for your own safety and the safety of others around you while attending this event.

This is just to say that you cannot take legal action against the SCA for injuries to yourself or others because you knowingly take responsibility for yourself and others and accept the rules of the SCA while participating in an SCA event.
