Greetings and well met my friends.
Here you will find many of the things that are a part of medieval from past eras
in history. There are pictures of the various arms and armour worn by the
warriors of their times along with some patterns for making various armour and
weapons.
Please note that pages with a ** after
them are still under construction
Check out the 'What's New?' section
below for updates on the various things on this site.
You can also find out what has been happening around town and
around the state of WA for activities and events being held by the groups by
checking out 'What's Happening?'.
Combat standards &
Equipment covers the different areas of equipment used
in medieval combat, you will find weapons, armour and other combat related items
on this page. You will also find the different standards required by the
Medieval groups such as the SCA and COTS.
The Picture Gallery is
where you will find many photos of the various Tournaments, fights and feasts
held by the SCA, COTS and The Grey Company.
The Costumes section is where you will find a number of
patterns for equipment ranging from armour designs and feasting gear to clothing designs and even
boot designs! A great area to find the sort of patterns you are looking for when
making up a costume or even if you are wanting to brew your own beer for
drinking!
Tools of the trade is where you will find pictures of the
various workshops of members in W.A. and the tools that they use to produce
armour and weapons.
In Medieval Events you will find out the latest information on
training events, Tournaments, camps and other activities held during the year by
the groups.
And on the Links page you can browse through the many links to
useful web sites that have more information on the various subjects that I have
covered on this site. You can also check out the sites of the groups based here
in Western Australia, in other states in Australia and overseas.
There is also a page dedicated to offline businesses and
groups if you want to find places to purchase equipment to use or for producing
Medieval items.

I would like to wish everyone
a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful and happy New Year. I will
be quite busy over the next few weeks with the festive season so don't worry if
this site is not updated until early January.
When I next do an
update, I will have some great photos and information and some new links to some excellent web sites!

On the weekend just gone, 9th & 10th December, the SCA
had a special royal visit from the eastern states of the principality of
Lochac (otherwise known as Australia). This was an auspicious occasion as we
also had one of our lords knighted!

The Knights with their newest member.
There were tournaments of archery, light and heavy combat on
both days and feasting on the Saturday night! All round it was a marvellous
event and everyone had heaps of fun - there was even a breathtaking fire
breathing and twirling display put on by two of the members!!
There were also a number of awards given out for services to
the barony and to the principality by the royalty and I hope to have some
photos that I took of the event up in the gallery as soon as possible.

Today COTS had their wedding display and combat on at the Tranquillity
Wedding Gardens in Wanneroo. The show was excellent with about six members
coming along - everyone had a great time and the wedding guests were immensely
enjoying it! We had a small display with about ten minutes of impromptu
acting and then we had some freestyle fighting which entertained the crowd,
with some of them even joining in with their own antics!
Overall it was a great show, although it was quite hot! The
bride and groom had a great wedding and we were proud to put on a display for
their guests. I would like to take this opportunity to wish the newlywed
couple a long-lasting and happy marriage :-)

- COTS had their Balga Community Fair Christmas show on and it was a great
success. About ten members turned up and we set up an eric (combat circle)
and pavilions for the members to sit in the shade. As one person summed it
up, it was like a training session except we had heaps of people watching us
doing our fighting and even a few participants who learnt the basics of
combat from one of the more seasoned warriors of the group.
Overall the afternoon at the Fair was a resounding success and it proved to
be quite popular with the younger generation of watchers. I look forward to
seeing many more such display from the awesome 'Circle of the Sword' group!

Happy New Year!
-
Hi everyone, I hope you are all well! I had an awesome New
Year and I am still recovering from it now! (so much for hangover cures!!!
LOL) I had to do a major update to the site with the html coding as I went
on the net on Saturday and found the site had changed a tiny bit. After a
couple of hours searching for the coding to fix these glitches (not mine but
my web site host's) I hopefully have everything back to normal. If you find
that something is not working or there is a problem with the way it works, email
me and I'll fix it ASAP.

I have added a new section for brewing your own beer under
the Costume production section.
This page explains the tools and procedure for brewing your own home beer
for drinking at feasts or at home!
-
I also updated the offline page under the links
section for fabric, leather, hardware and second-hand stores so that you can
see where to get most tools or gear for making medieval items.

I finally got my car back yesterday - at long last! We had
to jump up and down to get things taken care of but the car was finally
working well when I drive it home yesterday afternoon.

Check the events pages
for an update on upcoming events for SCA and COTS.

Due to circumstances beyond my control my car engine decided
to stuff up on the 14th October - hence a new engine and a very stressful
couple of weeks! As a result I haven't been much in the mood for working on
the site - but rest assured, once my car is fixed and I am back on the road
I will continue updating this site.
-
I have made some small changes as I received feedback on
various broken or non-functioning links - hopefully they are working
properly now.
