Subject: UCC Committee Meeting Minutes Date: Thu, 08 August 1996 13:30:00 +0800 X-Venue: loft@cameron-hall.gu.uwa.edu.au X-Present: [JEB] (James Bromberger - Pres.), [DJL] (David Luyer - Vice Pres.), [DUC] (Duncan Sargeant - OCM), [SD:] (Sophie Divliaev - OCM), [K?Y] (Kim Yeap - Fresher Rep.), [NTU] (Nick Bannon - Sec.), [SAF] (Simon Fryer - HWO), [YAK] (Ian McKellar). President's report: Nothing to report. Vice-President's report: Jolt tastes nice. It has the URL on it. [JEB]: Everything has a URL on it, these days. I'm sure the underwear I bought recently had a URL on it. Machine reports: mackerel: Nothing new - RIP? marlin: Should be quicker now - The ethernet interface is no longer in promiscuous mode, and so the machine will have lower load. It will now answer authentication requests more quickly, which seems to have fixed mermaid/moray login hanging problems. axolotl: Seems to be dying... mulloway: [SAF] to look at RSN. Incoming mail: A bill for two copies of the Cameron Hall key - $10 total. General Business: Tranceiver: The one we got from WT fried (it never worked properly to begin with). [NTU] engraved FITH on it, which rather disinclined WT to accept it back when [SAF] went to return it. ACTION: [NTU] reprimanded. UCC 22nd: Have it on Friday the 13th of September. [SGD] is looking at Gino's Pizza Restaurant in Fremantle. Swan Lake Chinese Restaurant was good. We could go to a different chinese restaurant. Check out the one next to Mother's - we could probably run an ethernet to it from CS... Cost should be $15-$20/head. Tentatively book for 20-30 people. Report to the list. Shenton Park report: Veni, Vidi, Vici. We put some stuff in (eg a few monitors), and took other stuff out (eg two valves in an IBM box - should we auction them at the 22nd? ::-) ) T-shirts: We don't have orange ones, but we do have orangey-red. Independance Day: We should go to see it on a Friday, perhaps a week after it starts. We can go to it in Perth. People can buy their own tickets. Finances: We've bought more food => more $$$. Still need to rein in negative coke balances. [DUC] has put a sign up to encourage people to put change into the cashbox, not the vending machine when paying for snacks. News: The UWA news server (news.uwa.edu.au) has now been officially switched over to the new machine (CNAME enyo.uwa.edu.au). DNS: The UCC DNS might be working better - one of the UWA nameservers hadn't been recognising moray as the server for our domain. Auctions: [JEB] and co. are going to an inspection today. [SAF]: A 15" monitor arrived from the VAX man - a 19" will follow RSN. Meeting closed: 1:57pm
