[MST] and [ANT] arrive. * [BEN] has made poster and application forms. We need to find out what is at campsite, and what we have to take with us. [BRQ] volunteers, email expected by Saturday night. * Minutes - posted, and up to date. * rcpt.to billing not sorted out by [DUC] yet. * Machine upgrades - [YAK] thinks the CS PC's do not provide value for money. We will not buy any for the clubroom. [TDH] has been chasing up motherboards, 2 have been put aside for [TDH] apparently. [NTU] has a quote for Pentium III 800's for $479, GST inclusive. We can also get PIII 550's for $405. Also considering getting 3 x 128mb DIMMs (1 for mussel.) We need somoene to put together an accurate proposal/quote together for committee before a decision can be made. * CS Computers - [GMB] and [SNG] want one. It is put forth by [YAK] that it would be against club policy, and abusing the privileges afforded to the club by various departments for UCC to try and bypass the lottery process on behalf of its members. It is poposed that perhaps a delegate can approach CS and ask if some UCC members can put together an application directly, instead of by ballot. Discussion ensues in relation to violating the trust of university departments by getting someone to ask if UCC can by some machines on behalf of its members. As club members, [GMB] and [SNG] are most welcome to say that they would like to buy machines, but they are unable to say that UCC would like to buy machines. [YAK] moves the motion that UCC not be involved in the purchase of the computers. [TAZ] seconds. Passed by majority (8 for, 2 against, 1 abstination). * Hosting Policy - Someone needs to put forward a policy for machine hosting. Any traffic charges could be billed using the coke credit system. We also need to heep the AARNet guidelines in mind, as we don't want to violate them. Not necessarily a committee member. [NTU] wishes to host a mailing list for ACMS WA. As a club member, [NTU] may do this without needing to consult committee, provided he is aware that traffic charges will be his responsibility. Meeting closed 7:40pm.
