Training and authorisation for combat in COTS

As any medieval group does, new members are required to be trained in the techniques of combat with weapons as weapons are very dangerous in inexperienced hands. The Circle of the Sword facilitates training as required below.

Any new member of The Circle of the Sword that wishes to participate in the combat area of the group will undergo training with the desired weapon of choice. The trainers will be proficient fighters who are experienced in the weapon that the newcomer has decided to begin with.

The trainee will spend as many training sessions as the fighters deem until they decide that they are safe enough to join melee combat. The trainee will not train with another trainee unless supervised by a fighter or fight in a show with another trainee unless the fight is well choreographed.

To receive training the newcomer only need ask any fighter for training. The fighters who are available for training are identified by a red armband or sash from their belt. However, most fighters will do some training with you if you just ask nicely.

Being upgraded to a fighter from trainee will be decided by the fighters of the Fighters Guild who will make every effort to make an unbiased decision on the trainees ability.

We must stress though, that each individual who chooses to fight is responsible for their actions and therefore must be aware of all aspects that pertain to combat.

If any injury does occur then both parties (the injured and injurer) will leave the field and will seek medical attention, whether it means just going to the First Aid box for a bandaid or going to Hospital for better medical attention. The injurer will make sure the injured person is alright before resuming combat. This is also dependent on the injury. If the injury is serious enough then the injurer should sit out of any more combat for a length of time to relax and de-stress.
