The Circle of the Sword Combat Standards

With the Circle of the Sword group only being established in 1997, they follow the National Australian Combat Standards which are also followed by the SCA and other medieval groups. Each group makes weapons and armour to their own standards, and COTS is no exception.

The difference between the COTS and Grey Company groups and the SCA is that the SCA fight with full force contact with padded weapons, whereas the other groups are primarily involved in theatrical performances using real weapons which are blunt and armour and using pulled blows in their fighting codes. In the pages below you will find information on the standards required by the COTS group.
