Machine Technical Reports

Servers

  • New server from pcadmin needs to be setup.
  • Backup staging servers (twin Dells) need to be setup.
  • We need to use the rest of the Wobbegong cluster.

Network

  • All .gu.au are failing because their top level dmark from uwa excludes our stuff.

    • Send mail from ucc.asn.au.

  • Mailman is attaching a file that makes it look like a fishing email?

    • Might be a weird email from a Japanese phishing company trying to be sent to the mailing list.
    • Only committee gets the blocked mailman emails.

  • Links and notifications can also decrease reputation.

  • Mailman prefers .gu instead of ucc.asn, should probably update it.

  • Could try to fix mailing list having links to other stuff, but all mailing list emails have links to the archive at the bottom.

    • Third party links may be treated as suspicious.

  • If we can't keep using .gu.uwa/.guild.uwa we may look into getting our own .edu email

      • A third christian club has hit the campus.

Desktops

  • Carpsucker is having some intermittent connection issues.

    • [LCY] says its the router in the machine room maybe?
    • Tried to fix the I/O shield but didn't do anything.
      • BUT DID NOT PLUG IN THE FRONT PANEL CONNECTORS WHEN FINISHED - [BRD]
    • Switched cable and it worked.
    • Further testing required.

  • Cobra was having issues maintaining/grabbing accounts.

    • Will rerun group policy/rejoin to domain and see if it fixes it.
    • Related to Samson issue.

Miscellaneous

New Equipment

  • [LIZ] leaves 18:25

  • [GPO] working on the potential new Ender 5 printer.

    • Some assistance and help would be nice.
    • (It may not fit on the project bench).
    • Not much has been done yet.

  • [MPT] purchased $43.62 5L of isopropyl alcohol.

    • [GPO] moves to reimburse full amount to [MPT].

  • Hasn't been checked.

Guild/SOC

  • SOCPAC meeting last Tuesday.

  • Guild introducing EFTPOS air

    • Using RFID tags on your phone to pay.
    • Square has ~2% fee and Air has ~1%
    • Pays into Guild account not directly to bank account.
    • We could just introduce fees onto square transactions.

  • Going to allow clubs to advertise events on their weekly instagram/email.

    • Just need to send information.
    • Needs an EMP.

  • Had a presentation from PROSH.

    • Highly encouraged everyone to sign up as a team.

  • How to Club guide is being updated, having a call for input.

    • If you have suggestions or wisdom send them in.

  • Club carnival 26th March ~12-2pm.

Tenancy

  • UWAES have ended up in UWASCA's old room in Cameron Hall.

  • Have received payments from square.

    • Should be the last thing to do.
    • Need to check if [BLU] has sent it over.

  • Super successful and yippee.
  • Around 105 sign ups, probably more that showed up later.
  • Ran out of fresher guides and flyers multiple times. (wowee)

Fresher welcome

  • Was super packed, we ran out of room and had to borrow chairs.
  • Went through entire talk and showed machine room.
  • Lots of sign ups and accounts set up.

  • Friday next week.
  • Committee start writing reports.
  • Notice has been sent out, need to send out an update with nominations, etc.

50th Anniversary

  • No updates so far.
  • T-shirt competition went up.
  • Once we have more info about the Universiuty Club we can start formulating a budget for the sit down dinner.
  • Should have a subcom meeting soon.
    • This Monday before Project Night.

Project Night

  • Should make a new poster.
  • Make a recurring EMP for it.
